Some really great songs — 3 years ago
When I first heard SOS on the radio, I couldn’t help but be distracted by the “Tainted Love” song in the background. After a while it grew on me though, and I found that I began to enjoy the song a lot. I’ve seen a lot of Rihanna music videos since then, and since I enjoyed most of her videos that I have seen, I decided to listen to some of her albums.
Since SOS was the first song that I heard of hers, I decided that I would listen to “A Girl Like Me”. Weird Al’s “Straight Outta Lynwood” taught me to listen to the songs on the album first before I buy it, as I might only like a fraction of the songs on the album, so individual iTunes purchases might be a better choice.
That is the case for me here, but iTunes has definitely made me give my purchase a “Worth Consuming” rating, as I really enjoy those songs that I did like from the album.
The other song on the album that I love as much as SOS is Unfaithful. Rihanna sings beautifully in this song, and she really seems to reflect the pain of the song’s message through her voice.
If it’s Loving that You Want is another great song, but I prefer the version in the music video over the song on the album. I am purchasing a lot of her music videos on iTunes, as I’m going to be using her music videos for my exercise workouts. She’s a real inspiration for me, as she is so beautiful. If I can be even a fraction as beautiful as she is once I lose weight, I’ll be very happy.
There is one song on the album that I’m torn over. I really like Rhianna’s portions of Break it Off, but Sean Paul ruins it for me. I don’t mind his rapping portions, but I find his shouting as Rhianna is singing to be really distracting. It might grow on me, and maybe I can find myself enjoying it like I did with SOS, but right now I’m not too fond of it.
