A story about this — 3 years ago
This is my first Akira Kurosawa film and it is an interesting departure from films I am used to. There was a good deal of camera time spent on single subjects. Also, a single camera was utilized where I am used to constant changes of angles. The emphasis was placed on the drama unfolding in the plot rather than camera tricks. In a time when the constant movement anf camera changes of a show like 24 is the norm, this was a significant departure. It was good, and I enjoyed it, but I don’t think that my brain was used to it.
