A story about this — 2 years ago
Once again the Canadians show us how to produce a thought-provoking film on a low budget. This saga of a young woman, Maggie (Karyn Dwyer), and her relationships within the LGBT community is a delight to watch from beginning to end. Peter Outerbridge as the shemale singer Judy was perfectly cast, well played, and the song “I’m not a F*ing Drag Queen” will stick with you. I thought more could have been done with the Kim character (Christina Cox), who seemed a bit unidimensional, but Maggie’s mom Lila is wonderfully portrayed by Wendy Crewson, and her discovery of what’s “better than chocolate” is well worth waiting for. Yummy.
