The first time I read this book I was a little disappointed. I love Dean Koontz but I hate how he recycles his characters by taking the same traits, abilities, disabilities, etc. and simply renames them or changes their location in subsequent stories. I put the book away for a while and reread it some months later and I liked it a lot better the second time around. For me, it did not have a deep meaning although I can see how some readers really felt touched by it.

This book was ok, but not one of his best. It was beyond strange and was way to out there for me. I like fantasy but this was insane. Not to mention I figured out what was going on about half way through the book. If you have some time to kill, this is a good book, but if you want a really good read, pass this up and pick up another one of his books.

Wow, this was a good book. I haven’t been able to sleep well for the past week but this book got me through it. It was scary without being too scary and (i don’t want to ruin it for those of you who haven’t read it) has a good ending. I like how he blended faith into the life of the characters and the entire premise of the book. This would make a good movie, too. Will definitely be reading more Koontz in the future. (:
