This was better than I thought it was going to be.
I especially liked the drama of the American man and little girl. It had a good ending too.
I did wonder if the retelling of the same scene from different viewpoints would seem repetitive, but it’s handled very well, with each iteration revealing just a little more of the story – things are rarely what you first think!
That said, it only lasts through about 4 characters’ worth, before switching to a straight, action-movie narrative. Probably a good thing, as it allows the story to flow more naturally, and as an action film it was okay, pretty standard, enjoyably watchable enough. Sort of a shame they couldn’t maintain that ‘hook’ any better, though, as it was a good concept.
Multiple perspectives, or multiple truths, has been a plot type used by Rashomon. However, I found that film odious. Vantage Point does a much better job… until the middle of the movie, when it turns into a action thriller. Not a bad one at all, but I found the “vantage points” part way more interesting and challenging.

Half’s gimmicky and interesting, the other half’s dull and predictable. Sigourney looks tired. Quaid is stiff. The scenes where the assassin(s) are in full swing (trans: POTUS getting smacked around) are a lot of fun. Vantage Point manages to be both stupid and cool, depending on when in the movie you decide to pay attention. Recommendation: This flick is good for a second-run matinee or a find in the used video bin.
