WORTH CONSUMING!

An OK album, though not nearly as enjoyable as Little Earthquakes. Several of the tracks were kind of catchy (Strange Little Girl, New Age, I Don’t Like Mondays), although I really couldn’t stand ’97 Bonnie & Clyde.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This C.D. was incredible. Tori is a visionary and is much ahead of her time. Every song on this album was completely redone and Tori gave them all a new life. She is the epitome of talent and this record clearly shows it.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Tori is one of my favorite singers, but even I cannot get behind this concept/cover album.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

most of these covers are misbegotten at best. The Eminem redo was pretty bone-chilling so she achieved her aim of “recasting” songs written by men from a female perspective pretty well. (Amos removes the jokey atmosphere in Eminem’s version and plays it straight..turning it into a shatteringly uncomfortable look at a psychotic killer.) But Neil Young deserves to slam her piano case on her fingers for her deconstruction of “Heart of Gold”. The idea on “Happiness is a Warm Gun” was a good one but a great concept doesn’t always make great listening and it doesn’t in this case.
