WORTH CONSUMING!

Great movie. And Paul Newman is, indeed, The Man!

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I had the impression that this was a great love story of the past. Man, I was so disappointed.

WORTH CONSUMING!

It took some convincing, but my boyfriend finally got me to watch this, and I’m really glad I did. It was a great movie. Everyone is commenting on his absurd stubborness. I think that’s what made it so enthralling. It didn’t matter whether or not his causes were justified, you wanted him to win anyway.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Luke is a great character. Sort of a cool loser, one who I think qualifies as Camus’s Absurd Hero. He has no purpose in life, cutting the heads off of parking meters because he lives in a small town and there’s “not much to do in the evening.” And yet, he’s driven to live a certain kind of parody of life, full of ridiculous challenges and stubbornness. It’s absurd!

WORTH CONSUMING!

Graemme and Gretel arrived from Hawaii the other day with their beach tanned bodies and over an Astro Burger conversation turned to movies, as it always does, and he started talking about Paul Newman stuff, and how his uncle would rave and rant about this film, specially the finale. Anyhow, it’s then that I interjected to say that I hadn’t seen the film, and he said, “You out of all people!” And then shook his head several times. So now, I have to see this.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This movie is the very embodiement of the classic genre. I don’t think there’s a single bad thing I can say. I’m also now convinced that Paul Newman is the man.
