I’ve owned the book that this movie comes from for over a year, but havn’t read it yet. If I remember right, the author is usually fairly decent. I can only suppose that the book is better than the movie, as is typically the case, though I thought the movie was well done when viewed as a story in the venue of Lovecraft. Maybe I’ll read the book next summer.

Unwahrscheinliche Story und Schauspieler, die man am liebsten die ganze Zeit anschreien möchte, weil sie sich so unmöglich benehmen, dass natürlich immer das Schlimmstmögliche passiert. Kein Stück gruselig, nur geeignet für Leute, die sich gerne mal wieder ärgern möchten.

Turistas, Hostel, and all the other teens on holiday gone wrong! flicks have a leg up on this latecomer. If memory serves, Disturbia made it ok to trust in teens again. And it was oh, a halfway decent flick at best. The Ruins is joyless, bland, formulaic and straight to bin. Red Hour Films is a right rotten bastard to have wasted everyone’s time. Thanks a lot, Ben Stiller.
