I’m kind of convinced that this movie was written and directed by a person with A.D.D. The direction, writing and acting was mediocre and all over the place. Jack Black was insane as usual, but I expected a lot more from Mos Def. I laughed a few times but I finally just pushed stop and turned the TV off before they could save the store. I’m sure I would have either fallen asleep or been annoyed by the pointless dialogue.

The trailer was much funnier than the actual movie, so I was pretty disappointed. Too much pointless dialogue for the first hour of the film. I enjoyed the scenes where they sweded the films but other than that I could have gone without seeing it. Once again, Gondry disappoints after the spectacular creation of Eternal Sunshine. Artistically Gondry (hand-cut crafty), quirky story, good acting. But it still didn’t feel quite right.
