Probably some of the worst acting I have ever seen, and I love Mark Wahlberg.
It seems like he says everything in an upward inflection, so it makes it sound like he’s an idiot asking a question?

If you think of it as a movie about invisible zombies you might just like it better. That was my approach anyway. Everything is better with zombies. Still, the film has many problems—like its extremely weak ending.
Wahlberg, Leguizamo and ok, even quirky indie chick Deschanel’s stars dim just the slightest bit in M. Night however you pronounce his surname’s latest yawn-inducing pretentious wankfest.
This guy must be stopped. No more writing, directing, bit of a small role (he thinks he can do everything …wrong!) in what can be barely called “movies”. Movies, from what I understand – entertain and enrich our lives. Pay however much for a ticket, a bag of popcorn, some stale nachos and a supersized drink at the theatre, sit back, enjoy, tell the kid behind you to stop kicking – and gasp and wonder at the beautiful whatever it is that you paid to see.
The Happening barely qualifies in any of the categories that movies usually fall into. It’s not really a thriller nor a drama or anything. You want a head scratcher? Something totally incomprehensible and out-there it gives your brain a workout? Try David Lynch or any of the classic masters. You want your date ruined, your friends to hate you, your folks to disown you? Keep on watching M. Night “movies”.
I gave this one a chance and was let down, almost as bad as Unbreakable (the only movie staring both Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson that sucks), but not quite.
I was thinking with an R Rating that there would be a least a boobie in it. Just one boobie. But The Happening seemed like a G rated nature hike.
It could have used more rioting and craziness. It was pretty bland. M. Night Shyamalan uses the same predictable twists and its getting to be very boring.
He should have rickrolled everyone at the end. In the packed house I saw The Happening at, everyone booed at the ending. The Happening – Not Worth Consuming.
