WORTH CONSUMING!
“Change means leaving things behind…”
It seems like a lot of the children’s books I have been listening to deal with change and transition. In this story, Lois Lowry used the relationship between an older woman and a foster child as a vehicle for imaginary beings, called Dream Givers, to illustrate, through their dreams and nightmares, the characters hopes and fears. I really enjoyed the way Lowry paints a picture of these beings and never really tells us what they are or what they look like, she leaves it to the reader/listener to decide. It’s emotional, intense in parts and overall really a pleasant read.
