A story about this — 8 years ago
I loved Cyd’s voice, her attitude, and the way the author approached her inner workings. She might be a wild, willful child, but she’s obviously loving and struggling. We’ve all been in her shoes to some extent or another. The use of language in this book was fabulous. I’d love to rec it with that E.R. Frank book of short stories; the authors really give their characters distinctive ways of using their words. I’m never very good and endings, and this one meets my complaint of ending too perfectly, but I can forgive it that ’cause I liked them all too.
