This is proof positive that Indie films are the cutting edge of American film-making excellence, and why film festivals like TriBeCa, Sundance and CineVegas are so needed – to give the little films the big audiences they deserve.

Duncan Tucker wrote and directed this way-out-of-the-mainstream tale of self-discovery. No major studio would touch it. How fortunate we are to have a movie like this to watch again and again on DVD. As mentioned by others, Felicity Huffman turns in a stellar performance as Bree, the transgender main character. By all means watch the special feature “Conversation with Duncan Tucker and Felicity Huffman.” Tremendous insight into how this magical character and her journey was created.

i recommend this movie because of felicity huffman. she is one of the best actresses ever, and has been a favorite of mine since she’s done sports night. her performance in this movie is absolutely outstanding – it’s touching, funny and just so achingly real. other than that, it’s a very good movie, but felicity’s performance just totally upgrades it.

I was surprised. I thought the story would be more on the voyage of the sex-change process. but the sex-change was really a subtext. this is a great story about relationships and acceptance of all types. I’m really glad I saw it.
