WORTH CONSUMING!

yea, i agree with everyone else.
too.
damn.
long.

i thought it was interesting because right around the two-hour mark someone commented on how it was bad to restate your case too many times. thats what i felt like in this film.
i understand that they had a lot of material they wanted to cover, but come on, there was a lot of stuff they could have cut down on, a lot of repetitive commentary, different people saying essentially the same thing. the length of it makes it difficult to recommend, as well as the unabashedly left-wing slant. plus, sorry, i dont live in canada, not too terribly concerned with how theyre conducting themselves. did anyone else seem to think that their complaints about the canadian government seemed to be rather petty? like that scene at the summit of the americas, wtf?!?
anyway, there’s a lot of these films that seem to be more preaching to the choir, something for people in the know to tell other people to “just watch,” and let them state their case for them. i wonder if these movies are doing more harm than good. like goddamn michael moore. i understand what the guy is saying, and im generally in agreement with him on issues, but does he have to be such a douchetard about it? and why is he the modern patron saint of political dissent? lets listen to noam chomsky some more. michael moore is essentially the left-wing rush limbaugh.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This was an interesting documentary, but not for two and a half hours. I lost interest about an hour and a half into it. The people they chose to interview are have good things to say and interesting stories, but I felt like there wasn’t a whole lot there that was new to me.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I think alot of cynical people will say that a movie like this wrongfully demonizes corporations. When in fact it makes a clear point to explain why a corporation cant be demonized. A collective of people with one goal in mind cant reason with the rest of us. This movie basically talks about the framework that the modern business works under. It lays out how the corporate world works, why its rules are like no other entity on earth, and why this good for their bottom line and bad for the rest of the working world’s bottom line. It also dabbles into to the more important issue of a global morality and global respect. If you think that you have ever been targeted, screwed, or laid off by a major corporation, this is a must see.

mmmmm, i love socialism — 3 years ago

i got no love for corporations…well no more than i do for men. it’s more of an indifference, really. THE CORPORATION raises lots of interesting ideas—from the frankfurt school to worries about commodification and privatization to patents on organisms to the legal status of corporations. but for goodness sakes, people, learn some economics. the most intriguing parts of THE CORPORATION focused on collusion between corporations and various governments. predictably, the left wingers who made this film placed the lion’s share of the culpability on the corporations (whereas a libertarian would place more blame on the state). in any event, well worth watching…even though i have major issues with anyone who makes a 2.5 hour documentary (with the exception of WACO: RULES OF ENGAGEMENT).
