When I went to see this I thought, “yeah, it’s gonna be good. everyone loves it.”
But when I came out of the film, I couldn’t believe the hype that this got. It was insanely ridiculous.
The only good thing about these movies is the fighting. The whole “i’m going to end 55 bajillion times just so I can piss you off” got a little old after the first time it decided to not end. Ad the fact that the characters are small hairy people, doesn’t help.
I would never see it again.

But i’ve heard the video game is good.

11 hours or so of Lord of the Rings, waaah! What a way to spend the 26th of december. I must admit my attention strayed at times, but all in all it is not a bad rendition of the fantasy novels. Though I missed some things (like my all-time fave Tom Bombadil) and others were rewritten it was still a stunning epic with breathtaking shots and scenes.

I feel the extended edition is definitely more true to the story told in the book, and if you are going to watch it (or watch it again) go for the longer versions.
