Many call it their best album, but I think it’s by far their worst. It’s Green Day, so it’s still good stuff and worth consuming, but their earlier stuff is much better. The band has matured in recent years and this CD has a message to it. But I honestly couldn’t care less about their political beliefs and the reason why Green Day is so great is because they’re fun. Their songs are catchy, upbeat, and fun to just jump around to. American Idiot doesn’t really have that.
Catchy pop-punk with a point.
Green Day revives itself with this CD. It seems to be made up of single-worthy songs. There are catchy upbeat melodies with easy-to-remember choruses and blatant political messages. Maybe not the deepest, most poignant music ever, but the simplicity of its lyrics does strike a chord within most people. And, c’mon, everyone likes songs they can sing along with.

Green Day has always made very consumable music, but they broke the mold for American Idiot. The band decided to make an album for themselves, rather than to please the critics or the producers or even the fans. What resulted was - in my opinion - the most innovative album since The Wall from Pink Floyd.

I’ve like Green Day for a number of years now, and I think their music has really matured. I really like this album, and I have it on my mp3 player, in my car and on my computers.

This is probably my favorite Green Day CD (until they come out with their next one LOL). I use it to work out, write to, travel to, and think to. It’s got excellent lyrical work. The music is complex and speaks to many different styles while remaining uniquely Green Day in sound. It’s worth picking up.
