I watched this just after having read the book and I have to say, it wasn’t a terrible interpretation. And I am usually disappointed by movie interpretation of books. I knew that Renee Zellweger would be a good casting choice for Ruby, but I thought Jude Law and Nicole Kidman wouldn’t be great for their roles. I was half wrong – Jude Law turned out fairly decent. Nicole Kidman turned out…like Nicole Kidman.

1 – the story:

It’s a sad and beautiful story that engages the watcher from the first frame to the last.

2 – the soundtrack:

I love the music of this movie almost as much as I love the movie.

3 – Rene Zellweger:

Her rendition of Ruby Thewes is flawless. It adds comic relief in all the right places and even bothers to be profound once or twice.

Dude. The psychotic albino. Hilyeeeeeaaaaaah!

I don’t like war films.
I don’t like romance films.
I don’t like sad films.
I’m really not too keen on any of the ‘stars’ (Jude Law, Nicole Kidman, Renee Zellweger).

I still came away thinking “Good film”. And feeling rather miserable, dagnamit.

I always love Anthony Minghela’s works…Actually I fall in love with his works. He could make such a beautiful movie and make my heart melt! One of the most romantic I saw!
And also…A brilliant performance by Nicole Kidman & Rennee Zellweger!!
