I sought this out because I recently saw Death Cab for Cutie in Berkeley (mp3.com review). The show was my first introduction to their music and I was quite underwhelmed. There was no energy and the songs just droned on with no build up or climax. The only song I really liked was the title track to this album, “Transatlanticism,” I found out later. On my first listen, nothing really grabbed me about this album, but I’ll give it another chance or two.
This is my soundtrack for 2005 just as Disintegration was my soundtrack for high school.
I kind of liked it at first. Then listened a few more times and it really started to click. Now it’s one of my favourites.
How I LOVE this album. It’s a grower. I have been listening to it every day and ignoring most of my other music. The beats behind the glovebox song…
What a great album to ride your bike to.
