Try as I might, I have never been able to get past page 20 or so on the book, and the movie either gives me a headache or puts me to sleep. After five or so tries… maybe I’ll get lucky with #6.

Or I’ll just shelf the damn thing. Both ovvem, book and movie.

After picking up the book Naked Lunch, and struggling through the first 40 pages or so (I do plan to finish, just haven’t yet), I just got to thinking “How could you ever make a movie out of this??” So I decided to rent the movie and I’m pretty glad I did. Totally not for the squeamish, am I right?! But definitely worth it if you can handle all the creepy crawlies. Hey, it’s about drug addiction! It’s going to be edgy and definitely should make you uncomfortable!!

The best part about the movie is that- even though it isn’t a direct translation of the book to film- it totally helps me understand how I should approach the book next time I open it (which will be tonight before falling asleep). I am looking forward to that.

I think they did a pretty excellent job with the film, I was honestly reeeaaally impressed.
