The Coen brothers, as is their wont, love to use dialect particular to the region, or to the times.

For this movie, they “made up” Prohibition gangster phrases like: “you’re giving me the high hat”, and “what’s the rumpus”?

WORTH CONSUMING!

Gabriel Byrne is eye-candy, and Marcia Gay Harden is a cool dame, and the visuals are stunning, but this film doesn’t completely strike my film buff bone. I’ve seen it twice already, and it still doesn’t drive me wild.
