Very enjoyable — 42 weeks ago
I saw this film at the cinema when it first came out, and of course have read the book several times, though not for a while. I watched the DVD with my husband and we both enjoyed it very much.
Harry is in his second year at Hogwarts, but is in great danger.. not helped by the delightful Dobby the house-elf who is introduced in this book. Dobby is a huge fan of Harry’s, and wants to keep him away from school… so causes all manner of trouble trying to ensure that Harry is either prevented from going, or sent home.
The plot revolves around the ‘Chamber of Secrets’ which has been closed for many years but has apparently been re-opened. Lots of excitement and tension ensues, with a highly dramatic climax.
It’s hard to be fully objective about something which is so well-known and so surrounded by hype, but trying to look at it fairly, it was hard to find anything wrong with it. Excellent cast who play their parts well, great direction, and some light humour to temper the drama. We even remembered to watch the few seconds of ‘extra’ at the end of the credits!
Definitely recommended.
