We all know the jokes about Leonard Cohen don’t we? You know, with every cd you get a free bottle of pills and a pack of razor blades ;) Personally I like his stuff and don’t really find it depressing, more emotive and deep in my eyes, though saying that I can understand why others might. It has to be said that he is a beautiful poet and that cannot be got away from… Jolly, jolly ;)

I saw the film I’m Your Man at the IDFA film festival in Amsterdam last week and was totally blown away by the man’s music, his integrity, his wisdom, and his humility. And his songs haven’t lost any of their power or beauty in the past 40 years. What amazed me in the film was the passion with which the artists (Nick Cave, Rufus Wainwright, Beth Orton to mention but a few) performed his songs. It was a magical evening and the sell out crowd were stunned into silence as the final credits rolled. Go see the film.
