Band of Brothers is more of a visual retelling of events than a drama with story arcs. It is not from the diary of an individual soldier, but the journals of a regiment within one of the American Army’s Airborne Division.

This series successfully captures the experiences of ordinary soldiers far better than any war movie I have ever seen. Each and every episode explores various themes such as leadership and reaction under fire while coping physically and mentally with the most unimaginable circumstances.

I very much enjoyed the brief comments from some of the surviving original members of Easy Company, whose introduction to World War Two, was parachuting into France on D-Day. Their commentary, found before every episode, is as profound and revealing as anything seem in the exemplary mini series.

One of the great benefits of the DVD package is the interactive “Field Guide”. It provides an extensive reference that details the people, places and events associated with Easy Company’s campaigns through Europe, and World War II as a whole, including sections such as: soldiers, timelines, maps, chain-of-command and glossary of terms.

i love this!!! it makes me envious of the comradeship soldiers feel for one another, and thankful for them.
