A story about this — 2 years ago

Okay,if it wasn’t based on Che’s diaries this never would have been made. It was pretty, but ultimately like watching someone else’s home movie. Sure, it looked like a fun, interesting trip for them, but there wasn’t much of a story for us.

As a side note, the part where he was annoyed that the doctors lived across the leper colony got on my nerves. These are doctors who were choosing to live isolated from the world and treat people that no one else wants to deal with. Who cares that they didn’t live among their patients? My doctor doesn’t live next door to me either. And when I was an inner city teacher, I didn’t live in the projects either. Does that mean any less of a difference was made?

WORTH CONSUMING!

For those who, like me knew very little about Che Guevara, other than he was a “revolutionary” and of course that iconic image, this will be an educational movie, revealing something of of his early years, and some of the experiences which may have shaped his later life. More so however it is an enjoyable film, with nice performances from both the leads as Ernesto “Che” Guevara, and his older friend, the slightly wacky biochemist Alberto Granado. It is nicely shot with moving scenes of the various mostly poverty stricken places the pair visited and the people they encountered. It is funny in a lot of places although becomes more serious and emotional later on, and overall is a gem that deserves to be discovered by more.

A question I have about this — 3 years ago

i don’t know anything about Che Guevara and don’t really know what he stood for. i didn’t really understand this movie. Did his girlfriend break up with him (was that what the letter was about?). None of his thoughts are explained and it was all very odd. It didn’t make much sense to me.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Traveling with Ernesto Guevara through his America, seeing the injustice of the human experience through his eyes is enough to make a revolutionary out of any of us. I long to change… the world? Is that too pretentious? I ache to make the kingdom of God real on earth. Perhaps that is where Che and I depart. I hope that a change can be made without guns.
