WORTH CONSUMING!

A quite sweet film that I thought would be too…Spielbergish. It’s not. Tom Hanks plays Viktor Navorski, a man who just has landed in the USA, whose country during his flight has ceased to exist and therefore isn’t recognised by the USA; alas, he cannot enter the USA nor leave for home, and is stranded in the JFK airport terminal. The film follows this person’s gentle fight against the authorities as his mindset and cultural learnings are shown differing a lot from what’s mirrored off the other characters in this very American mainstream film. It’s very funny in some places, harrowing in others and altogether a nice film to see.

A sweet, easy to watch movie. But while there were no lows, there were also no highs. Just… a long meandering along.

A decent film, but I thoroughly agree that it was overlong, and the romantic subplot seemed totally extranneous to me. Not to mention that Catherine Zeta-Jones’ character was utterly irritating. Tom Hanks’ performance was really impressive, though, and reminds me that he has some talent and doesn’t always have to play “that character” that he plays in so many other films.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

You’d think that if you threw Tom Hanks, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Steven Speilberg together you might get something that was half-way decent. You’d be wrong. Terminal is a terrible movie! It’s too long, filled with inaccuracies and less-than-subtle product placement, and it fails to convey any kind of political, social, or moral message, when it has an excellent opportunity to do so.

A question I have about this — 2 years ago

I can’t really decide how I feel about it. It was funny, especially hearing Tom Hanks with that accent, but it was way too long. Also a lot of unnecessary stuff happens. I felt bad for the little guy though, but apparently it’s based on actual events, or at least that’s what my husband told me, except some guy got stuck in France. I’m not sure, does anyone know for sure?

WORTH CONSUMING!

I enjoyed this movie and thought that Tom Hanks did a good job with the character. Having spent a lot of time stuck in airports over the years, I appreciated the humour of this situation. The movie held my rapt attention until the very end and I liked the ending.
