While I tend to campaign against the idea that it’s possible to “get” art, after reading a lot of online reviews for Adaptation, it’s quite clear that a lot of people just don’t get this movie.

well… sometimes i think that maybe by the time i watched this movie i wasn’t in a mood for this kind of genre. But then, i remember that i got it in the local video store not just once but 3 or 3 times… i could never get to the end of it. There are really good things about it but it defnitely got a little boring at some parts of it. I would say that if u r not sure wether to watch it or not… just go for it… but if i liked his movie… not really… i’m really in the middle here… 50%. Maybe i had too much expectations from it after reading the tittle for the first time.

This movie is just like life, except better, because it isn’t happening to you. You feel almost everything the protagonist feels; you feel sorry for him, hate his brother, ect., ect. Could have done without the Hollywood ending though… it was interesting without the sex and car chases.

I saw this movie a couple of years ago, and I’m still not sure if I liked it or not. I liked the concept. It was very original, but it also seemed rather pretentious. I would say it was worth it though for the very insightful line, “You are what you love, not what loves you.”
ugghh, thought the movie and the book- the orchid thief- were both horrible.

“The point is what’s so wonderful is that every one of these flowers has a specific relationship with the insect that pollinates it. There’s a certain orchid looks exactly like a certain insect. So the insect is drawn to this flower, its double, its soul mate… and wants nothing more than to make love to it. After the insect flies off it spots another soul mate flower and makes love to it, thus pollinating it. And neither the flower nor the insect will ever understand the significance of their lovemaking. How could they know that because of their little dance, the world lives? But it does. By simply doing what they’re designed to do something large and magnificent happens. In this sense, they show us how to live. How the only barometer you have is your heart. Now when you spot your flower, you can’t let anything get in your way.” – John Laroche
Intriguing movie. Great acting.

I thought this was such a clever concept for a movie. I didn’t enjoy it for any other reason.
