WORTH CONSUMING!

I imagine this was much more exciting watching it on TV, having to wait a week for the next episode. Knowing I had the answer to the current cliffhanger at my fingertips, I found I was quite happy to leave it in the box for a couple of weeks…

It’s not that the show wasn’t exciting, well made, blah blah, but I guess ever-escalating storyline just didn’t grab me – again, something that probably would have worked better in the ‘real time’ of a weekly serial. As it was, I just found myself rolling my eyes and going, “Again?”; “Amnesia, are you kidding me?!”

Still. I’m very glad that I’ve finally seen this much raved-about show. However, on TV was almost certainly the better option, as the only advantage of the DVD was the ending: if you don’t like it, just watch the alternative. Heh.

WORTH CONSUMING!

DH and I finished watching this on DVD today. Overall, I thought it was excellent. There were a few agonizing hours from about 2 pm to 6 or 7 pm that were absolutely ridiculous and very boring; we could tell they were pretty much filler. DH kept asking “Can we please fast forward through this?” and I was very tempted to say yes. But it was an exciting show. I’d seen the third season already, but that didn’t give anything away about the first season.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Benjamin and I finished watching season 1 of 24 last night. The first disc of season 2 is already in the mail from Netflix (speaking of which, I hear it gets worse for a while but that season 4 is awesome).

Benjamin and I both really enjoyed this show and did get hooked pretty quickly. I think it is one of the better TV shows available, though it is not as good as Lost or many of the HBO series. It may not be as noticeable when watching it over the course of 24+ weeks, but there are some plot choices that make little or no sense. Also, Benjamin and I were generally able to predict plot twists before they happened, though usually just right before rather than well in advance. Oh, and it does bug me that nothing critical ever happens during the “real time” in which the commercials fall.

Still, this is a good show and worth watching. Who’d have thought I’d say that in 2006 about something starring Kiefer Sutherland? Go figure.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

It’s ok. Alias was way better. I watched the whole season, and I didn’t start getting hooked until the end…everyone talks about this show as if it’s such a big deal. I think it’s overrated. I’m not above giving it a chance, though, so I’m checking out the second season at a leisurely pace…my favorite line so far is “I need a hacksaw” ... brilliant. The second season is way better so far. There’s just something about Jack, I will say. I want to be just like him when I grow up. Sorta.
