A great end to the trilogy — 1 year ago
Back to the Future Part III is one of those films that grows on you over time. When my family first saw it in theaters when it was released, we were all a little overwhelmed. After the intricate plot that Back to the Future II had, Back to the Future III seemed kind of like a step backwards for the series.
But, in retrospect, the plot’s similarity to the first movie is what makes it such a good bookend to the trilogy. The Doc finally gets a love interest here too, which is great, as Doc becomes love-smitten and Marty becomes the voice of reason who keeps them on the path towards finding a way back home. The role reversal was really fun to watch, especially in a scene where the two reversed their catch phrases with Marty exclaiming “Great Scott!” and Doc responding “I know, this is heavy!” :)
I enjoy Christopher Lloyd’s over-exaggerated screams and facial expressions as Doc Brown, and they are the funniest in this movie. Every time I watch the movie, I rewind the scene at the beginning where the Doc doesn’t believe that Marty came back to 1955 from 1985 again. Doc’s head is bobbing around so much, it’s a testament to the costume designer’s skill that the wig managed to stay attatched to his head. :D
The best part of the movie though is that we get to see that both Marty and Doc end up living the lives that they both wanted.
