“The Exorcist” is a brilliant horror film, concerned about character and, despite the countless parodies and how familiar the more fantastic elements are, is more effective because it plays more or less how people would react to this situation: completely unbelieving, skeptical, and very troubled by the reality. A classic. Now, this “version you’ve never seen” is, to me, a cheap excuse to re-release the film in theatres (back in 2000) and release another DVD version for people to buy. The added scenes range from “who cares?” (the crab walk) to the ridiculous re-editing of the ending which makes the movie fall completely flat! Watch only the original version!

Where did the movie end? What happened to Devil? Why did the exorcists die? Well acted but the plot was missing.

This movie is the scariest movie of all time. The first time I saw it, I was freaked out for a loonnnnggg time. The added footage (the staircase scene with Regan) is really creepy. Plus I saw it with a surround sound system at my friend’s house, and the voices and banging from all around creeped me the hell out.

After a few more viewings I calmed down, but when I’m with friends and looking for a good creepy movie, The Exorcist never fails to deliever. Also, the stories you can read about when it first came out are very entertaining. The things with people throwing up in the aisles and passing out…interesting stuff.

This version is better than the first one. Neither scared me, though. The part where she goes down the steps is the creepiest thing I have ever seen. I just never thought this movie was that scary. My Aunt went into labor watching the first one & out pops my cousin. I was not surprised when I heard that story…lol

I’ve watched this movie so many times that I literally know the dialogue (Sad, I know). After watching over 100 times, it looses it’s thrill. And you discover just how lame the movie really is. But still, it’s one of my favorite horror films.

Beautifully shot and well-acted.
