my father wanted to listen to this in the car when we were driving to a restaurant for my parent’s anniversary. he absolutely loves janis. it borders on the line of obssession. i have memories of him making me sit at home watching a movie of a live recording and making me memorize every single song. despite this, or maybe because of, i have grown a special place in my heart for joplin. she really puts her all into every song. i’m still not a huge fan of her music but can recognize a true artist when i hear one.
