I had really enjoyed her “Extraordinary Machine” album, and I had been looking forward to this, but it was just a let-down really. Many of the songs were very similar to eachother, and it just didn’t get to me. There really weren’t any memorable lyrics. It was almost all angry, angsty relationship drama. There was no joy, and I think that that let me down. All in all, if this was the first album that I heard of hers, I probably would not have listened to any of her other music. “Extraordinary Machiene” is much more my cup of tea.

Great voice control, with deliberate diction, jazzy without scat. Mostly songs about relationships. Criminal.
