I grew up listening to, among other classic rock and glam rock bands, Queen. They’re one of my dad’s favorite bands, and also pretty kid friendly. I have fond memories of my dad putting on “Seaside Rendezvous” and he, my sister, and I dancing and stomping on the living room floor, making the shelf shake and annoying our mother. It always ended with us smiling, laughing, and out of breath. And as I’ve grown up, this album has always been there. The songs never get old, they only get better.

“Bohemian Rhapsody” was popular at the beginning of the AIDS epidemic in the mid-80’s.
When I truly listened to the words to this song, it made me think of the plight of gay people and they way they have been treated, which made my thoughts branch out to anyone who is different than we are; anyone we deem to be less than we are…
Can you imagine what its like to think of yourself and feel as though you’re a monster because you’re different? What a horrible and lonely life that would be…
