The chapter on the importance of Aged Buildings explains quite well why suburbia is so fucking bland. All new construction = all chain businesses = no room for the dive bar, only souless chain restaurant’s like Chili’s… new construction = pricy rent (something only big business can afford). And I thought the chapter would be about old buildings having beautiful architecture… how pragmatic… :)
