yes, a tad underwhelming, with some very strange morality mixed in. i mean, everyone who dies is relatively innocent, as compared to everyone who lives at least.
i find it surprising some of the criticism of this movie. its the coen brothers quirky comedy, the same sense of humor theyve been having fun with since raising arizona. its just that they have built one of the most interesting reputations in hollywood, and after no country for old men, who in hollywood wouldnt want to work with them? so i think to expect a lot from this movie simply because of the cast is a bit naive. i mean, if it were full of unknowns, what, itd suddenly be much better?
i really liked it, it was very entertaining. top ten coen brothers? nah. well, i dunno maybe. but probably not. but is it still more interesting and original than 90% of whats come out lately? well duh.
the only other comment i have is about brad pitt. brad pitt is 44. he is not 20. and he’s starting to look it. i have a feeling he knows this. so for him to be playing some 20ish dumb gym guy is funny on a couple different levels. i just wonder if it was his vanity thinking he could pull off another young, nubile role, or its kind of a poke at it, making fun of the roles that brought him fame in the first place. either way, i find it humorous.
