WORTH CONSUMING!

Dynamite! Rarely does a docudrama make it on to AFI’s Top 100 List, but this one is most deserving. Hoffman and Redford shine as Berstein and Woodward. The mystery aspect plays well, as does the view into the inner workings of a major newspaper. You’ve gotta love Jason Robards as Editor Ben Bradlee, especially when he pens the note, “We stand by our story.” What guts!

Now, journalism is but a shadow of this great past. Here were two ordinary guys who toppled a tyranny. And this film captures it all. It should be required viewing for anyone who aspires to be a journalist (or who registers to vote), so that he/she fully understand the importance of the First Amendment. A free press is the heart and soul of democracy.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is a wonderful movie, but seriously. What has happened to journalism that fights this hard to report the truth?

I thought this movie was pretty good, but a little confusing…not that I blame the filmmakers since it’s a true story. The ending was definitely quite sudden, as if they just ran out of funding in the middle of the story. I love Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman – they definitely gave great performances.

Plus, I saw it on PBS, so no commercials!
