WORTH CONSUMING!

I can’t write a review of this now. But this book is one of the most singular books I have ever read, on par with House of Leaves and Pale Fire. It is one of the most brilliant things in existence, and it should be read at least once – even if the reader only makes it a paragraph in.

WORTH CONSUMING!

A work of mad genius. Who am I to criticize? It took Joyce 17 years to write it and it contains the history of the world. It seemed to take me as long to read it and I comprehended only a few atoms of Joyce’s world.

But I am done with it! FINISHED!

It is a book like no other. In Joyce’s own words, “Suck it yourself – Sugarstick!”

Someday I will finish this. If not in this, then in a future lifetime.

I keep this book by my bedside and pull it out every now and then before falling asleep, opening it to a random page and reading until I can no longer hold the train of thought. I doubt that I’ll ever read the book end to end… perhaps in forty years, though, after I retire.

It’s a testament to the truly awesome mind of James Joyce that he could write several hundred pages of total incomprehensible gibberish and manage to be acclaimed one of the greatest authors of all time on account of it. And don’t get me wrong – there’s no sarcasm in that statement.
