Yawn – yet another series about the trials and tribulations of the über rich in Manhattan. This is being touted as a “grown-up ‘Sex in the City’” but that is only the wishful thinking of a bunch of marketing veeps who have been hired to foist this drech off on the general public, unless “grown-up” is a euphemism for “self-important and void of humor”. And how many martinis at lunch did it take to come up with that one? It must be true that one must sell their soul to arrive at such giddy financial heights because the four women in this show certainly seem to be lacking theirs. I tried to give it a fair hearing, but there just isn’t anything endearing about type-A personality bloodsuckers whining because the rest of the world doesn’t open its veins for them. What is really mind-boggling is that the pilot for this show only premiered last night, but there are already numerous fan sites on the web for it, which leads me to believe they were created by the aforementioned marketing people in a burst of optimism. There was nothing exciting enough about the show to drive anyone to their computer to start their own site for it. Too bad; I have really liked these women in other roles.
