A story about this — 4 years ago
It was an okay way to spend an hour and a half, I had a couple of chuckles, and I love Steve Carell, but overall it wasn’t memorable and I found myself wishing I had picked something else.

I agree with the previous commenter who said this was a story that has been done before . . . for instance, the movie “The Family Stone” had similiar themes: brothers who fall in love with the same woman and switch “girlfriends” at the end, a big family reunion where the family is over protective and single out one person to be a bit cruel and mean to . . . At least, that movie is what kept coming to mind as I watched this. Still, kudos to Steve Carell for trying a role outside of his “type” even if it didn’t quite work.
This story has been done soooo many times, and it did bring some new aspects to the story, but overall it was just too predictable. The end credits in particular annoyed me, can’t they come up with anything original? Steve Carell was excellent (i think this is the first “serious” role i’ve seen him in) but the movie was just… okay.
Definitely not what I expected, but I still really liked it.
