NOT WORTH CONSUMING

It just didn’t work for me, at all. Apparently this makes me too dumb to ‘get’ the subtlety, but when a movie that starts much like Lock, Stock… or Snatch suddenly has characters talking to themselves, and somehow amidst the blood’n’gore we’re meant to ‘get’ that this is actually a deeply philosophical piece, all about ego and id and gawd knows what else. Urm, god, really – supposedly this draws heavily on kabbalah. Hmm.

Actually, once I’d read the wiki entry), I think perhaps it wasn’t the worst of ideas, just executed somewhat poorly.

WORTH CONSUMING!

i dunno, i just didnt get it. i had to rely on the mystical powers of the internets to figure out what the hell was going on.
some amazing performances, very compelling to look at, but in terms of a cohesive theme it just didnt ever click. too ambiguous, too faux highbrow.
i once heard a quote: a wise man will try and use the least words possible to explain himself, a foolish man will use the most.
hehe. there’s another quote for you after a screen full of them.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I won’t trash Guy Ritchie for trying to stretch himself, maybe take on something more “serious.” That said, however, I will trash pretty much everyone around him for not having the guts to say, “Hey, Guy, this is crap.” It’s George Lucas all over again. He made two really great films and yes, they’re pretty light and silly but they’re also marvels of timing, editing and intricate plotting like you don’t see too often.

Revolver had a lot of potential in its casting, its editing (the editing is really the best thing about it, almost the only really good thing—WOW!) and elements of its story. But he tried to hard not to do the Monte Cristo thing, and then got all pretentious with his efforts.

Then the end credits, bashing us over the head with how intellectual the whole movie really was with the likes of Deepak Chopra et al talking about the mysteries of the ego turned an already highly emetic product into one that really should carry some kind of biohazard logo.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

This movie started out bad and just got worse and worse till the end. I saw the twist halfway through, and it just made even less sense.
