WORTH CONSUMING!
An interesting book. It helped me to:
- realize I’m usually (over)eating when bored – heh, time to stir things up at work, I guess… I can’t keep consuming 80% of my daily calorie intake in the 8 hours I’m at work :P
- discover that yes, I have a major case of “famine brain”, but I can overcome my cravings with an atmosphere of abundance
2.1 while learning about my famine brain, discover that I can live for days, even weeks, maybe even months? with a whole bag of Snickers bars in my cupboard without scarfing them down (trust me, this is big) - discover that my body is indeed a scared, scarred, wary prey animal – case in point: today I started eating chocolate as soon as I thought about losing some weight before summer, and I stopped eating as soon as I realized I don’t have to give up any favorite foods, just eat a little better/smarter
- think more about non-food nourishment – inspired by entries here, I’ve made a list of 100 things that make me happy, besides money and food – so now when my body goes “candy! candy! candy!”, I can go “hey, lookie here”, and my body goes “oooh pretty” and forgets about candy ;)
- pay more attention to my body and stress levels – sometimes you just have to spend a weekend in bed with a book or just listening to the rain
I can’t say it magically transformed my life forever, but it made me aware of some things, and that’s all I ask from the books I read. :)
