WORTH CONSUMING!

I LOVE this book! I listened to it on audio and recommended it to a friend. She read the book and was so inspired by the photographs. Huh? I had no idea! Now I need to read the book!

do you think those are foer’s fingerprints? and that he wrote all the words in color?

Great character — 6 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

The young protagonist in this story, Oskar Schell, is a wonderful, eccentric character. This is a unique story and one worth reading. I really prefer the portions of this book told from Oskar’s point of view, but the sections told by others do create a more complete, and more interesting, story.

A gorgeous balance of imagination, charm, & intellect. I was hooked by the first page & will most definitely read this again.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Maybe a little gimmicky in places, but still a gripping and touching read.

Oskar Schell – the 9 year old hero of the book – I think is one of the best realised and charming characters I’ve come across in a very long time!

Recommended. (Also, even more so, the author’s debut, Everything is Illuminated.)

Extremely Sad and Incredibly Charming — 6 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This book is so incredibly charming, funny, horribly horribly sad, intensely touching and original. I actually sobbed out loud on more than one occasion.

The story of a young boy who lost his father in the September 11th incidents, it traces a long path through greif and love and acceptance and loss. With intriguing parallels to the bombing in Dresden and a whole cast of lovable and hurt characters, the book captured my heart from page one.

It’s one of those ‘experimental’ novels, relying on unusual layouts, photographs, and the like, but I wouldn’t let that put you off, even if it’s not usually your thing. The story, that’s what matters.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I could not put this book down. Jonathan Safran Foer is wonderful.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Few books have grabbed me so quickly. Even though the subject matter is likely to give any reader “heavy boots,” there’s a lightness and playfulness to the writing.
