WORTH CONSUMING!
A whole life, in novel form. Plus so many others that intersect.
There’s something about this book… I enjoyed it and I can see it sticking to me, and there’s that light and breezy Carol Shields voice, and the narrator that tells you it’s unreliable, that it’s biased, that doesn’t ever really identify itself.
There’s a built-in distance, a hesitance, a purposeful barrier between you and the characters, distancing you from their foibles, and most of all from their lovableness.
But it’s a good read. Yes.
