Many of you will have seen the movie based on this book, so let me start by saying it’s a pretty accurate transcription of the book.
At heart, it’s a coming of age story with a whimsical twist – a boy who’s lost interest in life learns to live again through a relationship with an impulsive 80-year-old woman.
The characters are charming and funny, the lessons universal, and the reading easy. It’s a little slapstick in parts, a little surreal in others, but completely pleasant throughout.
