Trying too hard. The recursive revisiting of scenes is the sort of thing I usually find really interesting but it was pointless here. The entire thing was full of superfluous ornament and forced gravity. They should have had David Mamet come in with a black magic marker and carefully black out every line of the entire script.

I wonder why the same exact scenes were used over and over again. Having them shot from the other character’s perspective during their sequence (or not reshowing them at all) would have been much more interesting.

Also, why did we learn nothing about the wife? Why bother even having her as a character if she rarely talked or did anything?

WORTH CONSUMING!

I am SHOCKED that this only has an 88% worth consuming. Shocked.

Before the Devil Knows Your Dead was an okay movie. I got really bored with the repeated scenes over and over. The movie 11:14 used this switching character technique much better. Most of the characters are forgettable, though I did enjoy the gay drug dealer’s attitude. I probably wouldn’t see this movie again.
