A story about this — 2 years ago
The year was 1972. I was trekking through Europe with my best friend, Pete, and we were living on $5 a day. When we reached Germany, we heard that Joe Cocker was giving a concert in Mannheim, so we ponied up $50 each for tickets. We were so excited about this “expensive” treat. Alas, Cocker cancelled the day before he was supposed to perform and we never got to see him (although I did convince the local police to “buy” our tickets so we could recover our funds immediately rather than wait weeks for a refund – Gott Segnet die Polizei!).
Anywho, here it is 35 years later and I’ve finally bought a collection of Cocker’s best. It’s great. Got the best oldies and middies, including Delta Lady and Up Where We Belong. Sweet.
