Why it's taking me forever to finish consuming this — 3 years ago

As others have said, it’s a loooong book. I have stopped and started with it quite a few times, but now I’m determined to finish it. I am not that interested in it, really, none of the characters have been really able to hold my interest, and the length keeps daunting me (I’m only a third of the way through it). I’ll reserve real judgement till I’m finished…whenever that may be :)

Why I recommend this — 7 years ago

Middlemarch is a commitment, but one worth making. George Eliot shows such wisdom about human nature, and her characters are extremely well developed (not a surprise is such a long book.)

A story about the last time I consumed this — 7 years ago

I was forced to read this novel in college for a course on religion and modern literature because my professor loved George Eliot. I despised the book at the time, but now I feel that I must re-read it in a non-academic setting. I have heard so many good things about it since college.
