A story about this — 33 weeks ago

Anansi Boys didn’t grab me as much as Starlight did. Probably just because I prefer my fantasy with old English elfs & dwarfs & unicorns etc instead of old African animal gods & (soft) voodoo. Also, I haven’t read American Gods, but not sure if that would add to this story as it seemed pretty stand-alone.

My newest most favorite book — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

American Gods was dark. This is playful. Both are excellent but I’ll always prefer playful. I love the characters, I love the plot, I love the twists, I love the vision. But mostly I love the playfulness

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

i just finished reading anansi boys by neil gaiman and honestly, im disappointed. the whole story was very level and transparent. there was very little building tension or mystery to any of the characters. if youve read american gods then you already know who anansi is, its not hard to figure out who spider is or how he is/was connected to charlie. the turns of phrase and descriptions are cute, but none of the side splitting similies or metaphors of neverwhere. good in its own right i guess, but pale in comparison to gaimans other works.

An adult fairytale — 5 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

An optimistic humorous adult fairytale. Addictive and light fantasy, love how he introduces modern gadgets (mobile phones, mp3) into an ancient myth story. I would recommend this to all the people that like the main caracter are a little depressed or have a lack of self steem.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I have of course become a fan of Neil Gaiman’s work, mainly because his characters are quite human and real, and he comes up with interesting stories. American Gods really got me and I liked it a lot, so when there was a “sequel” to it, I knew I had to pick it up. Started this some time ago, let it sit around, then picked it up again and finished it, was worth it.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I’m glad to see stories with nonwestern fairy tales as a base and non white characters in the mainstream. Gaiman wasn’t the first, but hopefully, he’ll inspire others to realize that there are a world of stories out there.
