WORTH CONSUMING!

I always thought I’d love this movie, and aparently I know myself extremely well, because I thought it was lovely. All the actors are great, the use of language is great, the story is well set up… It’s not that anything spectacular happens or there is some big lesson that needs to be learned or anything. It’s just a very entertaining bit of storytelling with some very interesting characters.

I chose Wishy-Washy for this movie. I definitely have mixed feelings about it. I remember all my friends went and saw it in theatres without me and I was pretty upset. Everyone always raved about how great and funny it was, and I always liked the idea of the film.

I finally rented it and watched it by my lonesome last night, ha. It felt kind of weird, and I couldn’t decide whether Juno’s character was insanely annoying and immature, or intelligent and funny. I disliked the way she talked sometimes, but at the same time it was witty and selective.

Well, either way, it really all boils down to whether or not I would buy the movie or not, and I don’t think I would unless it was for five bucks or so.

WORTH CONSUMING!

of course it wasn’t as good as everyone said it would be.

it wasn’t brilliant.

it was hardly even “original”.

it was cute at times.

but that’s about it.

I liked it, the lass in the title role was superb and pretty much carried the whole thing. However, perhaps I’m being a bit overly anti-fox but am I the only person who feels that it was only financed to help propagate the anti-abortion message?

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

This movie was HORRIBLE. It limped along on crutches. Crutches known as "constant, out-of-context, unnecessary references to what is supposedly hip so that everyone involved in the movie, particularly the screenwriters, can feel “hip” and “indie”."

It wasn’t original. It wasn’t edgy. It was macaroni collage. It was hopelessly manneristic chopped liver.

I don’t know how the actors did so well with the dialogue they had to work with. But I feel sorry for them, nonetheless.

WORTH CONSUMING!

One of the reasons I watched this movie in the first place was the obvious originality of it, plot-wise. Juno isn’t the kind of girl you would expect to see get pregnant so young, and it’s refreshing to see a more realistic spin on the old ‘pregnant teen’ story. Although after a while, the ‘originality’ of it started to kind of rub at me the wrong way. It’s almost like Juno is too quirky. It wasn’t enough to keep me from enjoying the movie, just something that stuck out to me.

I’d reccomend this movie overall. It’s funny, it’s engaging, and it’s definitely memorable. Young girls, this is a great movie to watch with your parents! I saw Juno with my mother, and as we left the theater she kept remarking about how accepting and ‘cool’ Juno’s parents were. Great soundtrack as well.

Clever, charming, and worth consuming! — 5 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I adored this movie . . . hits some pretty sensitive areas and has a positive outcome . . . the soundtrack was great too!

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

This was a borderline “not worth it” for me. I didn’t find it very funny or touching. I was excited going in and left feeling ‘ehhh’.

Surprisingly (well, perhaps it's not THAT surprising) brilliant. — 5 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Charming, witty, and hilarious. Those were the first words to come to mind after watching the movie. Based on the trailer I knew it was the type of film I would automatically like, but I didn’t expect to fall in love with it like I did.

The film is such a heartwarming little story that makes you laugh yet also makes you think hard and seriously about life by the time it’s over. As one of the other reviewers here wrote, Ellen Paige is excellent, and she plays off the other great actors – including Michael Cera and Jason Bateman back together, though this time not as father and son – incredibly well.

If anything, I would’ve loved the film to be even longer than it was (92 minutes). There could’ve been a great deal more character development here and there (Bleeker, for sure) and the film could’ve definitely tackled more issues, though I guess then it would’ve felt a bit like Knocked Up. Still, I’m hoping the DVD release will have a extended edition, because I really wanted more from Juno.

If it’s playing anywhere near you – and by Christmas it should be – go see it. And soon.

Why I recommend this — 5 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Loved this movie! It was really enjoyable. So funny! I need to see it again just to catch all those things that a theater full of laugher drowned out. Based on all the previews and such that I had seen for this movie I was very surprised that it was such limited release. Would recommend to anyone.
