WORTH CONSUMING!

Loved this book when it came out 5 [wow!] years ago. Took more liquids through my nostrils than I’m sure is healthy. Was banned from reading it in the staff room during my lunch break [f*wit boss].

Fun chick lit.

Easy to read and very entertaining. Relatable.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I laughed till I cried. This is the funniest book I have read in a long time. I laughed out loud so often that people on the MBTA turned to stare at me all day. I also fell off the couch at home reading the remedy for tape worms. Gary looked at me as though I were deranged. Bridget Jones’s Diary reminded me a lot of The Secret Diaries of Adrian Mole. Nevertheless, I’m recommending this book all around, with no reservations whatsoever. (December 23, 1999)

WORTH CONSUMING!

I hate to say it because it makes me feel very sheeplike, but I actually really enjoyed BOTH Bridget Jones books. I’m not quite as neurotic as Bridget, but I related to her on a levels, but while being able to laugh at the feelings as well. I like a book that can do that for me.

And honestly I enjoyed the book a lot more than the movie, though despite my usual feeling of annoyance by all things Zellweger, I must say she did a damn good job of playing Bridget.

Book was definitely better, though.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is the first book in ‘diary style’ that I’ve actually enjoyed. Have read it before – it’s very funny. Have also recommend the sequeal ‘Edge of Reason’ which I found even funnier.

I expected the book to be better than it was.

I guess this destroys some of my hyper-cool masculine cred, but I gave my students the option to read this book as part of an assignment, so I figure I should actually read it before they start writing their papers.
