Note to self: Avoid books labelled with the term “Autobiographical Novel”

Neither novel nor memoir, this book meanders through the lives of several Jewish emigrees spending the war years in Kenya. Somehow the author failed to make me care at all about any of them.

And yet it’s been made into an award winning movie (in French, I think). Huh.
